2010 Volunteer Efforts & Contributions

Collectively, the Men of Distinction (MOD) and Women of Distinction (WOD) contributed thousands of hours giving back to mankind in 2010. Through their many efforts, they succeeded and sustained by focusing on their missions.

MOD: To empower, support, encourage, instill positive values, embrace life lessons, focus on tomorrow and share knowledge with our youth.

WOD: To promote positive community social change.

With their support and collaborative efforts, individually and collectively, as brothers and sisters they have positively reached out and touched thousands of people throughout the State of Georgia this year alone.

Volunteer Efforts

  • Women of Distinction Annual Champagne Empowerment Brunch, reception hosted by the Men of Distinction, provided hundreds of women with tools to increase their spiritual, social and economic strength to better their families and communities.

  • HIP-Atlanta (Hospitality Industry Professionals) monthly meeting whereas HIP-Atlanta is a catalyst organization for education, communication and growth of diverse leadership within the broad-based metro Atlanta hospitality community.

  • Annual School Supply Drive (donated supplies to 2,000+ less fortunate children in the State of Georgia.

  • Order of the Eastern Star and Heritage Healthcare of West Atlanta. – donated thirty (30) baskets filled with wonderful gifts for women hospitalized on Mother’s Day.

  • League of Women Voters Annual National Convention, hosted 400 women on a Dine around Atlanta event, impacting downtown tourism.

  • Women’s Healthcare Center at Kennestone Hospital

  • Summer Tea Party hosted by the Society

  • Junior WOD volunteered at The Coca-Cola Company Chapter of IAAP and CCBSP Business Resource Group

  • Commissioner Connie Stokes for U.S. Congress

  • Susan G. Komen for the Cure – Greater Atlanta (Theme: Together, we can make an impact)

  • Stewart Foundation Career Day

  • Speaking engagement/empowerment: Greater Leavy Missionary Baptist Church

  • Adopted the Angels Tree Ministry. Donated and personally delivered toys to forty (40) children whom parents are incarcerated.

  • Annual Christmas Toy Gala (donated toys to 4,000+ less fortunate children in the State of Georgia which included donations to low-income communities, homeless shelters, families of DFACS, families experiencing hardship due to unemployment, and non-profit organizations focused on the well-being of our youth.


Gifts of Love

  • Donated financially to “The Little Miss Taylor Pageant”

  • Donated financially to “Girls on the Run” (Learn, Dream, Live, Run)

  • Donated financially to the AKA Annual Hush Affair

  • Donated roundtrip Airtran Airways tickets to FrontRunnerz: Most traveled volunteer hours within 2010.


Special Acknowledgement

  • Women of Distinction Recipient: The Honorable Commissioner Connie Stokes of DeKalb County Super District 7

  • Community Service Award Recipient: Porsche Foxx ~ The Porsche Foxx Community Force

  • Spearheaded and successfully succeeded in getting a Proclamation on behalf of the City of Atlanta, Men of Distinction & Women of Distinction for outstanding and continued contributions in the State of Georgia presented to the Legendary R&B Group Silk presently publicly at City Hall – Atlanta.
